![]() I've never been to this place but when I look at it I imagine how it sounds and how it feels...can you feel it? Maybe it's just cool enough to see your breath, and the air is just a little heavy with the cool dampness as you make your way to the rock in the foreground. You sit down and suddenly you take in maybe for the first time just how beautiful, how serene this place is. The water falls off the rock in a smooth motion and you see the ripples working their way to where you are. Small noises catch your attention and you imagine the birds and small creatures who are very fascinated by your being in their enviroment...and then you realize that God created this breathtaking scene...just for you. He placed every stone in place, caused the sun to shine at just the perfect angle, and removed all the noise of life from your mind, can you feel it? And then Jesus comes and sits with you on the rock and says, "tell me all about it." He understands our trials, he understands our fears and our frustrations, he is interested in you. I'm not perfect, He is. I don't know your pain, He does. I can't make it right again, He Will...tell him all about it.

![]() At first glance it appears that our Lord is in a desolate lonely place, abandoned by his friends, no one to talk to...but it is really a picture of the moments that we all need more of, moments alone with God. No distractions, no cell phone, no internet, just our hearts and God's ear. Alone time is critical to the Christian, and it is vital to the ministry at every level. Jesus often went off to pray alone, and it was following those moments that we see Him energized and refreashed for the challenge ahead. Should'nt we who are in no way his equal be even more intentional in finding not just a few quick moments but extended times to spend alone with God. Maybe your schedule is crazy, maybe your life is full of challenges and deadlines, everybody demanding your time and your effort...Jesus had that kind of schedule to the extreme, and He found time, quality time, quantiful time...let that be our desire, let that be our goal. Is there something you've been wanting to share with the Lord, something that has been wearing you down...He's listening right now, take a moment and chat with HIm, you won't regret it, and God will bless you through it. |
