ORGANIST - BETTY JUNE HARP
Betty June Harp has led an extraordinary life and - in spite of the fact that she turned 88 in May - is showing no signs of slowing down. Born in Waterford, Kentucky, Betty June began playing the piano when she was eight years old. Betty June's passion for playing, combined with the tenacity that would come to shape her life, caused her only to miss two lessons in eight years.
After meeting her husband, Bobby, Betty June Walker became Betty June Harp, and shortly after the birth of their son, Marty, moved to Elk Creek, where they became members of Elk Creek Baptist in 1963. Over the years, Elk Creek Baptist has been blessed to have Betty June faithfully play the organ every Sunday, and she says that she will continue to do so "until God calls me home." |
